Institutional Information & Engagement Strategies

In our case, step two is linked to step one, as we needed to get partnership collaboration at the first stage of program development. We had the support of the city authorities from the beginning.

Our information strategy was divided into:

- Internal group (organizers including city authorities)

- External group supporting the project (partners and institutions involved)

- Internal group (organizers, including city authorities)

Preparation & Planning

Aims

1) Clarification of the project partners in accordance with the course objectives (Academy of Music, specialized places for internships and study visits such as radio, television, cultural institutions: theaters, recording studios)

2) Division of the course due to the diversity and needs of the students: specialized industry knowledge combined with movement in the labor market - the basics of independent functioning, such as: running your own business, basics of copyright law, creating and interpreting contracts, preparing copyright packages related to your individual business (online portfolio), cooperation and selection of partners.

The process started by developing a plan / profile of the course graduate: skills that the student should acquire after completing the course to meet the needs of the labor market related to the course) practical and theoretical skills, knowledge of the labor market, basics of independent functioning on the market, interpersonal skills and teamwork, shaping and profiling individual characteristics needed at work of the future students role in the labor market.

In Bydgoszcz, it looked like this:

- Diagnosis of the problem caused by a real shortage of specialists in the region

- Selection of project partners and obtaining their consent to participate

- Development of the program on the basis of workshop possibilities

- Extend the program to the individual needs of students and their knowledge of the labor market and protect them from the pitfalls of the market (law, business, management, organization of events)

In our case, the name of the course “SOUND AND LIGHT PRODUCTION IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY” sufficiently discussed issues covered in the course and at the same time explained the dissemination to students of the scope of knowledge that can be made available in it.

The two-stage recruitment process lasted a month and the details of the program were presented during individual interviews with candidates, who applied twice as many as expected.

Welcome

The Sound and Light in Music Industry course was created to address market needs and the lack of qualified technical staff needed to organize music events. A problem not only in Bydgoszcz and Poland, but also in many European countries, is the lack of training and education in this field.

Besides private courses, the only path to professional development is through universities and higher education programs, usually related to film production.

Our course is designed to prepare participants who already possess basic skills to independently manage sound and lighting at concerts.

The course is simple and easily transferable to other cities and countries – the program is based on both theoretical concepts and extensive practical training. The final exam involved independent technical support at a concert.
