About Us

This is where the Music Industry Resilience Acceleration Programme (MI-RAP) comes in. As institutions working in and with the music industry, our focus is on the business side of music: the people, structures and companies that make music happen behind the scenes. At the same time, we know that community-based and non-professional music are just as important in shaping a thriving city.

With MI-RAP, we aim to help cities become more future-ready by strengthening the resilience of their local music industries. On this website, you’ll find tools, methods and real-life examples to support your local efforts. Whether you work in policy, city administration, urban planning or economic development, we offer practical ideas to grow your music ecosystem and help you get others on board.

“What is a Music City?"

A Music City is a place where music is embedded in the city’s identity and supported through public policy, planning and investment.

It has a vibrant ecosystem of venues, festivals, studios, artists and companies that together create cultural, social and economic value.
